Your ShapeShift Order ID is an alphanumeric string of numbers and letters divided by 4 dashes that links to all of the most relevant information about your ShapeShift order.
If you ever need to open a support ticket, your Order ID will make it so much easier for a support agent to help resolve your problem in the least amount of time.
Let’s take a closer look at all of the information provided in your Order ID.
#1. Order ID - An Order ID looks like this 7446af8e-64e8-4a31-90df-d790e4c1f947 and can be found a number of places depending on what tool or service you used to ShapeShift. If you have your Order ID, you can add it to the end of the URL http://ShapeShift.io/status/#/ for the most up to date info on your order. Here’s the above Order ID link on our website: https://shapeshift.io/#/status/7446af8e-64e8-4a31-90df-d790e4c1f947
#2. ShapeShift Deposit Address - This is the address that you send your deposit to in order to shift into another token. If you do not send to this address within the time limit set on Precise Orders, it will fail and your deposit will be sent to the Return Address provided when your order was created.
#3. Order Maximum Limit - “Send UP TO this amount”. This shows you max amount that you can deposit as well as the coin that you’ve selected to deposit. If you send over the amount shown, your order will fail and your deposit will be sent to the return address minus the corresponding miner fee.
#4. Order Minimum Limit - “Send AT LEAST this amount”. If you send less than this amount, your order will fail and your deposit will be sent to your Return Address. It is important to note that we do not send returns that are valued at less than 1 EUR. Please review our Terms & Conditions for more info on this.
#5. Recommended Miner Fee (Fast Processing) - This is the miner fee that we recommend that you attach to your deposit in order to be confirmed on the blockchain in a reasonable amount of time. Not attaching an adequate miner fee to your deposit could result in your deposit taking a long time to reach us. If you have created a Precise Order, not attaching an adequate miner fee to your deposit will likely cause your timer to expire which will cause your order to fail. Take some time to read our other help desk article on how miner fees work for a more in depth explanation of the topic.
#6. Status Bar - This changes as your order progresses and shows the basic status of your order.
#7. Deposit Address - This is the same as the deposit address at the top of your Order ID status page.
#8. Receiving/Withdraw Address - This shows the address where your shifted token(s) will be sent once your order has completed. It is VERY important to make sure that you send the correct tokens to the correct type of address. Once we send your withdraw, we are unable to help you recover any tokens sent to the wrong type of address. It is also important to note that your Receiving/Withdraw Address is not the same as your Return Address.
#9. Current Rate & Final Rate - If you've created a Quick Order, this will update the Current Rate every 30 seconds until your deposit is confirmed on the blockchain. As soon as your deposit is confirmed, this will display the Final Rate that your order locked in at. If you created a Precise Order, the final rate will be locked in from the beginning but you only have 5 minutes to send to the Deposit Address.
#10. Order Type - There are only two types of orders; Quick and Precise. There are pros and cons to using both types so we suggest that you read more about the difference between Quick and Precise Orders to decide which one is best for you and when one may be more useful than the other.
For Security & Privacy Reasons, Your Return Address is not displayed on your Order ID page - It’s important to note that this is NOT the same as your withdraw/receiving address. Your Return Address is where your deposit will be sent in the event that your order fails.
Keep Your Order ID Private - A ShapeShift Order ID is a piece of information that is best kept secret until your order has been completed successfully. Even if you need help from customer support, do not post it on social media sites like Reddit, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc. as this reduces your privacy and may help malicious actors to launch attacks against you.
