If you received less than you feel you should've received, please double-check the miner fee.
Miner fees are the transaction costs that are paid to the people that maintain the blockchain. These fees are required for any transfer of cryptocurrencies from one address to another across the blockchain network. These people are often referred to as "miners".
Each "miner" is competing with all the other miners on the network to be the first one to correctly assemble the outstanding transactions into a block by solving specialized math problems. In exchange for validating the transactions and solving these problems, miners are rewarded for all of the transactions they process. They receive the fees attached to all of the transactions that they successfully validate and include in a block.
ShapeShift uses a flat-rate miner fee for every transaction we facilitate regardless of the size of the transaction. This ensures a higher probability that our users are able to receive their funds as quickly as possible without experiencing delays due to network congestion.
In the event that your crypto-coin deposit is returned to you, you will notice that a miner fee is deducted from your original deposit amount. This is the miner fee required for us to send your digital assets back to you in a timely manner.
You can see our miner fees here.
If the subtracted miner fee does not equal the amount that is missing, please submit a request with our support team for further assistance.
