What is Portis?
Portis is the first compatible software wallet with the New ShapeShift Platform! A software wallet is a more convenient way of storing your crypto assets. While hardware wallets, such as KeepKey, are more secure, wallets like Portis have no cost barrier of entry, do not require a physical device, and can be logged into from any machine (as long as you remember your password)!
How Do I Create a Portis Wallet?
Getting your wallet setup to use takes no longer than five minutes. To start, head to beta.shapeshift.com. If you have not connected a wallet previously, the dashboard should prompt you to “Create or connect a wallet”. Next to Portis, click “Select”.
A popup in the upper right-hand corner of the screen will appear. Click “Continue”.
Log in if you have already created an account with Portis.
If you are new, click “Create new wallet".
You're almost finished! Enter a valid email address and password (twice). Click “Register”.
IMPORTANT: If your password is lost/forgotten you will not be able to access your funds without knowing your recovery sentence. Please see this link for instructions on securing your password/recovery sentence.
That’s it! If successful, you will see “Portis Connected” at the top of beta.shapeshift.com
Congratulations! You can now track, send, receive, and trade your assets using the ShapeShift Platform.
How to Send
In the Assets tab, you will see what coin/token balances you have. Click on the asset you wish to send and then click “Send”. Enter the recipient address and amount you wish to send. Click “Continue”.
You will be asked to “Sign Transaction on Your Device”.
Since you are not using a device, a popup in the upper right-hand corner will appear. If everything looks correct, click “Confirm”.
If successful, you will see that the send has completed along with transaction details.
How to Receive:
Click “Receive” at the top of the platform. Select any asset you wish to receive.
Your receive address and QR code will be displayed.
If you’d like to verify that the address is one of your Portis addresses, click the eye icon.
Confirm that the address is verified and you’re good to go!
