What’s your fee structure?

ShapeShift does not charge a specific fee. Instead, we offer an exchange rate for each coin which changes every 30 seconds with market conditions.  We try to earn revenue by offering a profitable exchange rate, and typically we earn in the range of 0.5% (50 basis points).  You receive exactly what the exchange rate shows, there is no additional fee (except the tiny miner fee).

So as an example of how you would calculate the following posted "Instant Rate"

ShapeShift_fees.png

In this example, the Instant Rate posted is 1 bitcoin = 40.85042657 Ether. You would calculate the amount you would receive by taking the amount of bitcoin you plan on depositing- let's say for this example we are depositing .5 BTC- and multiplying it by 40.85042657 Ether.

.5 x 40.85042657= 2.42521328

The only fee that would be removed after doing this calculation is the Ether miner fee. You can see this in the above image on the right-hand side posted as 0.01 ETH.

So the final amount of Ether you would receive would be:

.5 x 40.85042657= 2.42521328 - 0.01= 2.41521328 ETH

The only think I know is that on jaxx wallet was changing from Zcash coin to BTC and on 5 dollars you kept : 60 Cents ..., So unless the Jaxx kept the fee yours fees are really high!!! over 10%!!!! feel free to correct me if I am wrong and please explain...

Actually, they don't kept the fee, technically it was used for the miner fee, because they have set up a fee of 0.0006 BTC, you can check it out here: https://info.shapeshift.io/about

However, I must say that I think it's a bit too high. This page shows the cheapest fee possible to get a confirmation fast enough: https://bitcoinfees.21.co/

At the time of writing the fee for a median size transaction is 20,340 satoshis which are worth around $0.15 ... I understand that here at Shapeshift they work with much larger transactions, with multiple inputs from different users but... Why the fee is not spread among all the users involved in a transaction?

Shapeshift makes money from the "spread", i.e. about .5 to 1% of each transaction. For zec-btc right now its about 1%.  Seems kind of high to me.
